The model is set to "Quadra 900 (Mac OS 8.1)" CPU type is set to 68040, the m86k-family processor shipped with the Quadra. MacOS RAM size is set to 256 MB, the design maximum for the Quadra 950. Serial and network settings are the default. Keyboard and mouse settings are the defaults. Video Type is set to 'Window', Refresh Rate is set to 10 Hz, width is 1024 (the maximum) and height is 768 (also the maximum.) Disable sound output is off, and the sound device settings are set to their defaults on Linux. The Basilisk II binary chosen for the Watchmaker project is the 'Windowed' build, versus the 'Full Screen' build. SCSI emulation is not needed by the Watchmaker project, so no settings are enabled. This application was created using File Typer 5.3, another piece of Macintosh abandonware. The latter is used to alter the Macintosh file attributes for source code modules, so that they conform to the expectations of the THINK Pascal compiler. There are also two utilities used in transferring source code modules and other files from the host system, called AcceptFromUnixApp and AlterAttributesForTP. The other volume, named Watchmaker, is 1024 MB in size, and is used to store the Watchmaker Suite source code, executables and saved animals, together with the last official release of the THINK Pascal compiler, version 4.0.2. It is 256 MB in size, large enough to hold an installation of Mac OS 8.1, the last-to-be-released operating system which will run on m86k family processors. The startup disk is listed first, named 'OS81System'. Here the virtual hard disk images are specified.
